Commercial Losses

Introduction

A significant portion of the amount of energy loss is attributed to non-technical, which refers to the process of commercialization of energy and comprehends reading errors, consumption reading errors, billing calculation errors, and especially fraud and energy theft.

In 2011 the magnitude of these losses reached about 28 TWh or 4.9%[1] of the total energy supplied in Brazil, representing approximately BRL 7.3 billion, with important effects on the value of the tariff and the consequent impact on public policy and the economic efficiency of the country.

The majority of non-technical losses occur by frauds or energy theft. Frauds refer to tampering in energy meters with the goal of reducing the consumption recorded and energy theft diverts the energy directly from the power lines, consequently it is not registered.

There was not, up to this moment, truly effective technological solution in place to combat commercial losses that is available for power distribution companies, making it difficult to treat the problem.

Commercial Losses Reduction - Pxyon

To operate effectively in the detection and localization of fraud and theft of energy, Pxyon developed a Control System, Measurement and Monitoring of the Network Secondary Electric Power Distribution.

Representing the state of the art, this system has functions to detect and localize fraud and energy theft, measure reading, remote disconnection and control of customer loads, moreover enabling continuous electrical parameters monitoring along the network, enabling equipment and street lamp diagnostics from a Command Center allocated on the low voltage bus of the distribution transformer and also Measurement Modules located on customers residences.

Integrate this new technology a Central Command, a Measurement Module, a Visualization Module, an Operation Interface Module and a set of computational systems for information security and features control.

This system is on registration phase at Brazilian National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI) with number 11058420 and Patent Cooperation Treaty – PCT with number PCT BR 2012/000420 (WO/2013/063669).
